1910-20ish beginning of post modernism, anti modernist in a lot of ways
De champ fountain
A urninal graffitied, off white, writing says r mutt 1917, seemingly sterile, not upright,
1914- WWI began Germans and English on opposing sides, 20-50metres apart, WWI new technology British kept fighting the same way, led to trench warfare, Boxing Day 1914, for the one day they buried the dead exchanged Christmas gifts and played football, last time of gentleman warfare, post modernism symbolically started after that day, modernism there was rules. Post modernism has no rules, rules are a form of oppression, western ideology is not king anymore all ideologies are equal, any sort of institution is bad.
De Champ's fountain can no longer serve its original purpose.
